ONE VERY HAPPY PATIENT!

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Dear Dr Hassan

I am writing to thank you for your excellent work on my front tooth. I am delighted with the implant and tooth, it fits, it matches, it looks good, it is secure and its a huge improvement on the crown that I had before and that had failed.

You advised at the onset of the treatment plan that on a scale of 1-10 (where 10 is most difficult) that this would be a 9. However you proposed a plan to address all of the challengesand then executed the plan with great skill and profesionalism. Whilst I am delighted with the final result, I imagine you too are pleased with your work – and so you should be, you did a great job.

Please also pass on my thanks to all the staff, they were very kind to me, in particular during the first stages when I found the procedures a little stressful to say the least.

Finally I am very grateful that when treatment needed to be extended a little, costs did not become an issue.

Yours sincerely

Mr M

NEVA MAX!

MAXIMUM PROTECTION AGAINST LIFE’S MINI ATTACKS

No matter how careful you are, your everyday activity can cause tiny scratches on the lenses of your glasses. As time goes by, the lenses lose their transparency. Neva max comprises of six layers which protects your lenses from premature deterioration by introducing a micro-aerated layer between the lens surface and the outside environment. The added layer acts as a shock absorber as well as a scratch repellent making the lenses able to with stand being wiped with wire wool with no affect to the lens at all. The coating has all the traits of a premium anti-reflective coated lens such as anti-static layer to eliminate dust and hydrophobic layer to repel water and finger prints, therefore making it easy to keep your lenses clean.

The superiority of the neva max anti-reflective technology makes it the market leader for durability and therefore comes with a 2 year guarantee, allowing you to have piece of mind that your lenses will be protected not just by the coating but also until your next eye examination.

Ask our lab technician Roni for a demonstration next time you’re passing by.

Eye Scan detects Multiple Sclerosis in Wakefield

Monday, December 14th, 2009

A recent study, published in Neurology, used optical coherence tomography to scan optic nerves as a complement to magnetic resonance imaging to track the effectiveness of treatments for MS.eye

The Johns Hopkins University researchers used optical coherence tomography to test 40 MS patients to scan the layers of nerve fibers of the retina. The retinal nerve fiber layer is the one part of the brain where nerve cells are not covered with the fat and protein sheathing called myelin, making this assessment specific for nerve damage as opposed to brain MRI changes, which reflect an array of different types of tissue processes in the brain.

The researchers found a correlation coefficient of 0.46 of the study participants, but for patients with relapsing remitting MS, correlation coefficient jumped to 0.69, suggesting an even stronger association between the retinal measurement and brain atrophy.

“This is an encouraging result,” lead author Dr. Peter Calabresi said in a statement. “With optical coherence tomography we can see exactly how healthy these nerves are, potentially in advance of other symptoms .”

The eye examination is fast becoming a general health check – especially with the Optical Coherence Tomography facility at Pollards Optical. “It’s just great to know that we can detect many systemic conditions using this new equipment,” says Mrs Hassan.

Call us to arrange an appointment – but be warned, there is now a waiting list!
