Last month we saw the completion of the following beautifully restored dental implant, you can see from the picture how nicely the tooth appears to emerge from the gum which has been restored with a bone graft.

Hello, my name is ***********. I had the OCT 3-D scan as part of my routine eye test, and it picked up my glaucoma.
The tests for glaucoma with the standard NHS eye test did not detect any problems, and I was shocked to find out that 40% of damage has to be done till glaucoma is detected with the NHS eye test!
I am so glad I had it done, I am receiving treatment for my glaucoma now and without that scan my retina would have continued to deteriorate for another year till I saw my Optician again. But now that my Optician has picked it up early, the damage will stop.
I would recommed OCT to everyone, it saved my sight.

Today we held an Open Day for the public to find out more about our new Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). There was cake, sandwiches, tea, coffee and good company! The Mayor arrived to cut the cake and Qausia Hassan carried out some live demonstrations. Check out the videos & photos on Facebook!

On Monday 12th April, the Mayor launched the OCT scan at Pollards Optical by having a scan himself! Here we see him after he has had his scan, with Ben explaining the technology behind it.

Well done everyone for the hard work put into our Open Evening that went very smoothly this evening! Thank you to the guys from Topcon, the local optometric commitee members and the local GPs who all made it an enjoyable evening. Most of all, thank you to the Mayor & Mayoress of Wakefield, who came to have an OCT scan in the practice and were very impressed by it.
For all of those who missed it, there is a public open day on Tuesday 20th April, 9-5pm. There will be food, drinks, and I will be doing demonstration scans on the day. Feel free to pop in if you have any questions about us, the practice, or OCT!
