Broken Window :-(

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Sadly, on the night of Saturday 4th, one of our shop windows was smashed by a brick. Luckily, only one sheet of glass was smashed so they were unable to get into the shop or take anything.

Can you help? Did you see anything?

Our hero, James, from First Window Surgeon has come to the rescue with his fast service, and the window has been replaced today.

The Regain of Functional Tooth Support

Friday, July 16th, 2010

It was thought previously that there was no help for patients who suffered with severe gum disease. Dentists were able to prevent further bone loss but would not be able to replace the bone already lost from attacking bacteria. Emdogain is a recently introduced product that fools the body into forming new bone and attachment fibres, helping to stabilise mobile teeth. Emdogain uses the same protein that is produced only during the time of tooth development, the protein has an important function in the creation of teeth and their support structures.

If you would like to find out if Emdogain would benefit you then make an appointment with the dentist. You can call the practice on 01924 373697

Cosmetic Dentures

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Here we see a recently completed full upper denture case, where Dr Hassan has placed 4 dental implants.  The implants are used to secure and stabilise  a much smaller denture which does not cover the palate.  This benefits the patient in the following ways:

  1. Reduced denture size.
  2. Improved speech.
  3. Improved chewing capabilities.
  4. By not cover up the palate the patient is able to taste more flavours from there food.
  5. No risk of denture falling down, during normal function.

Impacted Wisdom Teeth

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Most wisdom teeth don’t cause any problems and so do not need extracting. However if there isn’t enough space for them to grow they can become impacted and cause pain, swelling or infection. Having your wisdom teeth surgically removed as you can imagine is not a very pleasant procedure and so is avoided where possible. Paying extra attention to the area when cleaning your teeth can help to reduce the chances of infection. You can use specially designed instruments to do this. If you would like some more information on your impacted wisdom teeth, make an appointment to see the dentist.

Bad Brushing Habits Cause Heart Disease

Friday, May 28th, 2010

According to new studies taking good care of your teeth could prevent you from having stroke or heart attack. The study found a strong link between gum disease and narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the heart. Research suggests that the bacteria that causes gum disease may increase the rate at which arteries become blocked. The researchers believe that bacteria can leave people’s infected gums and enter the bloodstream, activating the immune system and making their artery walls inflamed and narrowed.

Normally healthy gums are pink in colour, when you have gum disease they will often appear red and swollen and will more than likely bleed when brushing. If you’re worried about your gums then book an appointment to see Dr Hassan.
